We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Dietitian to explore and further their interest in adult mental health. This post is a fixed term maternity cover starting in March 2026 offering the opportunity to enrich your clinical practice in inpatient & outpatient mental health through the support and guidance of an established dietetic team.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
• Undertakes day to day supervision of assistants and students including work allocation, checking record keeping and quality of care delivered and providing clinical advice and guidance as required.
• Provides clinical supervision to assistants and students.
• Provides training to assistants and students, monitoring and evaluating learning outcomes, providing feedback and assessing competencies to facilitate learning in practice.
• Identifies and meets the training needs of carers, volunteers and healthcare staff from other professions working with service users.
• Participates in the recruitment and appraisal of assistants.
• Participates in the induction of new staff to the clinical area.
• Plans own workload, managing competing demands (e.g. urgent referrals) to ensure care is delivered according to clinical priority.
• Delegates work to assistants whose competence has been established, whilst maintaining professional accountability and ensuring their work meets required care standards.
• Plans, organises and writes session plans for individual service users or groups.
• Plans training sessions, workshops, seminars and poster displays.

- B.Sc. (hons.) in Dietetics or Post Graduate Diploma in Dietetics
- Current registration with HCPC

- Participation in Preceptorship Programme and/or Competency Framework
- British Dietetic Association course in Mental Health or similar
- British Dietetic Association course in Diabetes or similar
Experience

- Experience of working in a wide variety of dietetic practice areas whilst on student placements
- Experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
- Experience in presenting to groups
- Experience in clinical data collection and auditing

- Experience of working in acute services on an inpatient basis

Knowledge

- Understanding of the various Nutritional Assessment Tools
- Basic knowledge of anthropometric measurements and biochemical interpretation
- Understanding of Nutrition Support and the clinical guidelines surrounding it

- Understanding of Metabolic Syndrome and the clinical guidelines surrounding it
- Ability to formulate safe and meaningful nutrition care plans
- Able to plan and facilitate 1:1 intervention sessions with service users
