Rotational Clinical Pharmacist (Band 6 to 7 progression)

Full Time 

£38,682 (Band 6) – £54,710 (Band 7)

At a departmental level, we have been fortunate to receive significant investment in recent years, which in addition to growing our team, has led to a major departmental refurbishment, the replacement of our Pharmacy Robot, the creation of a new Pharmacy and Aseptic Unit in the Cancer Centre, and the opening of a new Outpatient Pharmacy.

This role is a compelling career opportunity for a skilled and dedicated pharmacist to join our hardworking, forward-looking, and innovative pharmacy team. It would be ideal for a newly qualified pharmacists looking for an opportunity to develop their career within a hospital setting. 

You will join our team in a Band 6 role and following the successful completion of your probationary period you will agree a number of objectives with your line manager and the Pharmacy Education Team which you will need to achieve in order to progress into a Band 7 role; these objectives will include both workplace tasks and self-directed learning with a suitable academic education programme.  

You will become part of a growing team of Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians who support patient care across a wide range of clinical specialties within the Trust. With the support of our Specialist Clinical Pharmacists and our Principal Pharmacists across a range of clinical specialities, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centred care. In addition to delivering ward-based pharmaceutical care and providing clinical support to the dispensary, you will have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of medicines optimisation and medicines safety activities as part of your wider medicines management role.

Trust Responsibilities

 

·         To support the effective and safe use of medicines within the CSUs, in line with agreed Trust priorities, and in line with pharmacy’s activities to optimise medicines management across the Trust and at the interfaces with primary and tertiary care.

 

·         To be part of the Pharmacy team and work with staff within the pharmacy department and across the Trust, to enable the objectives of the Trust to be achieved.

 

·         To contribute to the Trust complying with Trust and Pharmacy Procedures, Medicines Management Standards and the Clinical Governance and Risk Management agendas.

 

Professional Responsibilities

 

·         To deliver safe, effective and efficient clinical pharmacy services; to contribute appropriately to the training and development of staff in pharmacy and within the CSUs to promote safer medicines use in line with Trust priorities.

 

·         To assist the Principal Pharmacists in all medicines related matters which reflect the needs of the services and the Trust; to support the Principal Pharmacist to deliver their full portfolio to meet the overall needs of the Trust.

 

Clinical Practice Role

 

·     To practice in compliance with the General Pharmaceutical Council code of professional conduct within the scope of practice, being responsible and accountable for own decisions, actions and omissions.

 

·         To demonstrate a critical understanding of broadened level of responsibility and autonomy and within the limits of own competence and professional scope of practice, including when working with complexity, risk, uncertainty and incomplete information.

 

·  To act on professional judgement about when to seek help, demonstrating critical reflection on own practice, self-awareness, emotional intelligence and openness to change.

This role is crucial to the delivery, development, and evaluation of pharmaceutical services across the hospital. It plays a key part in helping divisions optimise medicines use within available resources.

Our standard working hours now consist of four long days per week; Saturdays, Sundays, and Bank Holidays are worked on a rota basis. After a period of induction and training, you will contribute to the pharmacy out-of-hours on-call service.
