Assistant Psychologist

4

Job overview

To work as a member of a multi-disciplinary specialist autism team in the Leeds Autism Diagnostic Service. This is a city-wide service offering diagnostic assessments to adults of all-intellectual abilities in Leeds. The team supports NHS colleagues and voluntary sector partners in their understanding of autism through consultation and training.

Main duties of the job

Under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist to contribute to the Multi Disciplinary  assessment of adult autism. Specifically, to carry out review and triage of referrals for autism assessment; and review developmental and collateral information.  Where appropriately agreed, additional assessment duties may include carrying out structured developmental assessments with parents/relatives of people with suspected autism; contributing to joint assessments with service users with suspected autism.
The assistant psychologist will contribute to service development by developing resources for the assessment, consultancy and training pathways. The latter two pathways support LYPFT staff work with autistic people in the trust. This could involve developing post-diagnostic resources.
There will be opportunities to participate in the design and implementation of audit/service evaluation/research, and to support MDT colleagues with consultation and training activities. The assistant psychologist will work according to a job plan agreed with a Clinical Psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures.
