Job overview
Join our committed Older People’s Mental Health (OPMH) team and play a key role in improving the lives of older adults in the Bracknell locality.
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate leader to provide operational leadership across our Older People’s Mental Health services.
The Service Manager will have day-to-day responsibility and accountability for the safe, effective and efficient delivery of services, including the Memory Clinic, Community Mental Health Team for Older Adults (CMHTOA), and the Home Treatment Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to lead a well-established multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality person-centred care to older people with a range of mental health needs. You will work in close partnership with the Bracknell Forest Council Service Manager, as well as colleagues across BHFT, the voluntary sector, and partner organisations, to ensure integrated and responsive services.
Main duties of the job

To oversee the operation of all delegated Community Mental Health Services for Older Adults in the Bracknell Locality of BHFT and to form good effective links with all clinical leads, social care colleagues and departmental heads.

To be accountable for maintaining safe staffing levels and skill mix in all teams where there is direct responsibility.

To ensure effective communication and interface exists between services within the Locality, across BHFT, Frimley ICB and Bracknell Forest Council including partner agencies and stakeholders.

To ensure that each designated team has clear objectives which are consistent with the BHFT locality business plan and in line with national and local guidance.

To ensure that performance targets on behalf of Bracknell OPMH and BHFT are clearly understood and met, and that effective action plans are in place with close monitoring if required to improve performance.

To ensure financial constraints are understood by the team and to participate in budget monitoring and ensure that areas under direct control are delivered in line with budget.

- Relevant professional qualification i.e. Social Work, Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist.
- Extensive experience of working as a registered practitioner in at least two differing specialist areas

Previous Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of working as a registered practitioner in at least two differing specialist areas
- Specialist knowledge, through working in a leadership role, of leading projects, and managing /implementing change.
- Proven ability to manage several complex services, with varying needs including ethnic minorities, gender and cultural boundaries.
- Evidence of senior operational management experience within mental health services.
Desirable criteria
- Demonstrable track record for strategy development and implementation
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Essential criteria
- Detailed knowledge of Care Programme Approach / Care Management.
- Evidence of highly developed skills in Risk Assessment processes and application to complex cases.
- Specialist knowledge of Clinical Governance.
- Demonstrable experience of working across organisational boundaries.
- Ability to undertake objective investigation into complaints and incidents.
- Demonstrable experience of supporting staff and service users and carers under stress or in receipt of bad news
- Ability and confidence to deal with service users and their carers who may present with complex/challenging presentation.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Contracting process including both health and social care contracts and commissioning processes.
