We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

Job overview

A great opportunity has arisen for a Driver within our Capital Estates & Facilities Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne.  The post holder will assist the Transport supervisor in delivery of services within the department.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic, efficient driver who will be responsible for transporting high risk patients with escorting staff to a pre-determined destination using are High Secure vehicles.

 

You will also need to be available at short notice for emergency cover at Broadmoor Hospital both during the normal working day and out of hours. You will also be required be part of the on-call rota, on a rolling three-week basis.

Main duties of the job

The role involves working as a part of the transport team and will include: 

·       The transport of high-risk patients and escorting staff to a pre-determined destination using the department High Secure vehicles.

·       Liaise with courts, prisons, RSU’s, hospitals for arrival times and schedule changes at short notice.

·       Be part of the on-call out of hours Rota.

·       This may include staying away from home overnight and working overtime where necessary.

·       Other transport duties as necessary.

 

 

Applicants must have good communication skills, basic IT skills, able to work calmly under pressure with the ability to plan and follow routes to and from hospitals, courts and other locations around the country.

 

Working hours are 37.5hrs Monday to Friday, except if your on-call.

 

A full UK driving license with category C1 is essential. The role requires some previous experience in driving larger vehicles. Full training will be given in relation to the secure vehicle the successful applicant will be driving.

  • Current Driving License valid for GB with category B and C1
