Locum Consultant Obstetrician

Locum Consultant

Job overview

We are currently recruiting for a Locum Consultant Obstetrician to join the existing team of fifteen consultants based at the Royal Surrey Hospital for a fixed period of 6 months. The main aim of this post is to support an increase in activity across our Maternity Department, including acting as our Labour Ward and Caesarean Section Lead.

This role does not have any on call components nor the need for weekend working.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will hold the title of Labour Ward Lead and will help us ensure we are meeting the needs of our ever-growing Maternity services,
specifically our elective caesarean section lists. In line with expected expansion of antenatal service, the post holder will have regular antenatal clinics and will be expected to support elective caesarean lists, community hubs and continuity of carer pathways.

The consultant will participate in departmental meetings, contribute to training, risk management and incident and policy reviews. It is expected that the post holder will have knowledge of root cause analysis, and participate in clinical governance.

You will contribute to the delivery of the departmental action plans - Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle and Ockenden recommendations.

The Trust supports the concepts of CPD, clinical audit and EQA, and encourages all consultants to participate in these activities by providing time and resources. The appointee will be expected to participate in clinical audit and CPD.

Although it isn't the Trusts normal practice, adverts may close early, so you are encouraged to submit an application as soon as possible.
