Job overview

We are delighted to offer an opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated and forward thinking Physiotherapist to join our adult mental health inpatient services across The Bay Network. This role forms part of our growing Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce, working alongside Dietetics, Speech and Language Therapy, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy.


This post forms part of the Mental Health Inpatient Physiotherapy Team, who provide specialist physiotherapy input across all mental health inpatient wards within the LSCFT footprint. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to clinical leadership, service development, and the ongoing professional growth of the team.


We are seeking an individual who is keen to build on their clinical and leadership skills and contribute to a culture of learning, excellence and development within the AHP community. A specialist interest in frailty, falls prevention, or physical health in mental health would be desirable, though not essential. Most importantly, you will be committed to delivering high quality, person centred care and will be supported to reach your full potential as both a clinician and a developing leader.

Main duties of the job

Provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy input to the mental health physiotherapy team. Hours required to be worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday, between 08.30am and 16:30pm, depending on service need.
 
To assess and treat inpatients within an inpatient ward setting as an autonomous practitioner 
 
Physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme.
 
Hold responsibility for own complex caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working without direct supervision. 
 
The post holder will ensure their own personal development and participate in the development of others   
 
To supervise, educate and assess the performance of physiotherapy students to ensure the standard of practice and teaching meets the degree standard
 
Undertake evidence-based audit and contribute to research projects. Make recommendations to clinical lead/manager for service improvement
