Children's Occupational Therapist –Team Lead

West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

The Hounslow Occupational Therapy Team are seeking a dynamic and experienced therapist to join as the Education Special Centres and Units Team Lead.
Hounslow Children’s Occupational Therapy Service is a well-integrated team. We are committed to supporting staff in developing their skills and expertise.

This role provides an opportunity to combine clinical leadership and service development alongside working with a clinical caseload.
We are looking for an Occupational Therapist who has some experience of managing and supporting staff, has worked within school-based settings, and has a keen interest in service development.
A key part of the role will be to shape and deliver responsive, high-quality support to children and young people with EHCPs who have a range of Occupational Therapy related needs, difficulties and differences that impact on participation in activities of daily living.
The OT Team Lead will work closely with the current Health OT Team Leads and the service manager, and alongside the Speech and Language and Physiotherapy Team Leads.
Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd
· Delivery and co-ordination of services for children who have complex Occupational Therapy related needs, as relevant to the Special Centres and Units Education service.
· Identify the need, plan and deliver specialist training to the Occupational Therapy Team and other educational and health professionals.
· Joint working with relevant professionals in the field of health, education, the voluntary sector and social services.
· Deliver highly specialist clinical skills including evidence-based assessment and intervention for a diverse and highly complex caseload.
· To provide highly specialist advice to parents/carers and other professionals.
· To provide highly specialist reports, therapy programmes and other types of complex written information.
· To supervise a team of therapists working across the special centres and units in Hounslow.
· To collaborate with the local authority for promotion and implementation of an evidence based, effective service meeting the needs for children and young people, and their families.

- Degree / diploma or other professional Occupational Therapy qualification
- Registered with HCPC
- Post graduate study and training in specialist area
Experience

- Significant experience as an Occupational Therapist working within specialist field (e.g. education settings)
- Experience of carrying out specialist informal and standardised assessments and intervention relevant to the client group
- Working with multi-agency/ disciplinary teams
- Extensive experience of supervising less experienced OT’s
- Experience of training others including parents/ caregivers in specialist area
Knowledge
