Consultant T&O Surgeon (Foot and Ankle)

Consultant

Job overview

Applications are invited to apply for the role of Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant, specialising in Foot and Ankle. This role is for 10 PA per week. It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have extensive experience in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery including complex trauma, plus an interest and experience in total ankle replacement (TAR).

The Royal Surrey is a GIRFT-recognised Regional Hub for TAR and hindfoot reconstruction. The successful candidate will work closely with Mr Halliwell, including dual operating, to refine the candidate’s expertise, eventually sharing the TAR workload. The department has a special interest in complex foot and ankle trauma (particularly under the direction of Mr Alex Dinneen), sometimes taking cases from nearby trauma centers. The successful candidate will actively participate in this service.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate with Consultant colleagues furthering the interests and reputation of the Orthopaedic Department and the Hospital.

The post is suited to Specialist Registrars/Residents who are nearing completion of their training and wish Fellowship experience in Adult (and adolescent) Foot and Ankle Surgery. FRCS (Tr&Orth) or equivalent is essential. The successful Fellow will be given active support with Clinical Research and will be expected to present and publish the work, as appropriate.
