Band 3 - Physiotherapy Assistant (Elderly Care)

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Elderly care team as a Physiotherapy assistant at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. 

This post would be suitable for an individual with a particular interest in assisting patients to become as independent as possible. This role includes supporting the qualified staff to deliver complex treatments to dependent patients and to assist with running of the department including data collection and equipment ordering.

The successful post holder would have a responsibility in participating in the weekend and Bank Holiday seven day working rotas (1:4 – 1:6 weekend working frequency).  

Previous NHS experience is essential.

Supported by a team of experienced therapy staff, this post offers a potential candidate the ideal opportunity to gain a wealth of experience within the elderly care team. 

This is a rewarding role with many opportunities to expand your communication and people skills whilst working alongside an integrated therapy team.

You will take part in peer learning sessions and be part of a structured in-service training programme for our assistant tier alongside personal development reviews with your supervisor.

Education and qualifications:

Meini prawf hanfodol
  • Care Certificate or City and Guilds 3 or NVQ 3 or BTEC National Diploma OR equivalent experience.
Meini prawf dymunol
  • Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths; GCSE A* - C or 4 – 9 or willingness to work towards.
  • 3 A-Levels OR Health and Science T-Level OR equivalent Level 3 qualifications / apprenticeship.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of the physiotherapy role within acute setting and discharge planning.

  • Knowledge of local services for onward referral.

Experience:

  • NHS experience, in an acute environment.
  • Experience of managing and prioritising own caseload.

  • Relevant experience as an PTA or similar.
  • Experience of working with clients with cognitive impairment/confusion/dementia.
