Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and dynamic senior nurse to join our Paediatric Assessment & Treatment at Home (PATCH) service as a Matron. This 1-year fixed term post will provide maternity leave cover, leading and supporting PATCH teams across five acute hospital sites in Northwest London.
PATCH delivers high-quality acute care for children at home, reducing hospital admissions and improving patient and family experience.
As Matron, you will play a key leadership role in ensuring clinical excellence, patient safety, and service innovation across all PATCH teams.

Main duties of the job
- Oversee the planning and delivery of PATCH across NW London from a nursing perspective
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with delivery and development of PATCH
- Act as a positive clinical role model through the provision of support and expert clinical advice to staff.
- Manage workforce models through the PATCH establishments with leads to ensure skill mix reflects current workload requirements and represents best use of resources.
- Oversee the use of bank staff and monitor expenditure to ensure financial balance is achieved.
- Contribute to the implementation of National Service Frameworks (where applicable) and National Policy.
- Contribute to the implementation of improvement across all PATCH services.
- Ensure that clinical governance processes encompass measures to ensure high quality patient care and levels of service safety.
- Support leads to ensure nurses work within nursing policy and practice guidelines.
- Lead developments in practice through policies and guidelines and support others in this process.

- RN Child Teaching/assessing qualification

- Substantial experience within Acute/general paediatrics at B7
- Sound knowledge of current issues within speciality and relevant to role
- Experience of quality, standards and audit
- Ability to manage complaints, risk and quality assurance

- ED or PATCH/Hospital@Home experience
- Community experience or exposure to working within homes
- Management certificate or experience of leading a team
