Position: Medical Doctor Specialising in ME/CFS Care
Location: Remote Consultations
Contract Type: Part-Time, minimum of 1 day per week @ 7 hours
Introduction
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Doctor to join our non-prescribing ME/CFS care team, who shares our commitment to high-quality, patient-centred care in line with the latest NICE guideline.
About Us
Action for ME's Healthcare Services division, registered with the Care Quality Commission, is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS).
Action for ME is the only charity in the UK providing support, including healthcare, to people of all ages affected by ME.
As an organisation providing direct support and working to secure long-term change, we've been working to improve every aspect of life with ME since 1987.
But we know securing change isn't simple.
That's why we take a holistic approach so we can make an impact on multiple fronts - from amplifying the voices of people affected by ME in Government and leading on breakthrough research, to providing "lifeline" support and unique healthcare services on a daily basis.
Role Overview
This role involves direct clinical responsibility for diagnosing, managing, and treating patients with ME/CFS through remote consultations. The successful candidate will be pivotal in providing holistic care and support, developing
personalised care plans, and working within a multidisciplinary team to enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Diagnose and manage ME/CFS using a patient-centred approach, following the NICE guidelines for ME/CFS, via remote consultations.
• Create and update personalised care plans that address both physical and psychological aspects of the condition.
• Engage with patients, families, and carers to provide education about ME/CFS management and self-care strategies through virtual platforms.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals across various disciplines to ensure comprehensive care delivery remotely.
• Contribute to the charity's initiatives on ME/CFS awareness, education, and research.
• Advocate for the needs of ME/CFS patients, enhancing their access to necessary services and support.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• GMC-registered MD with experience in ME/CFS, or related fields.
• Demonstrable understanding of and commitment to implementing NICE guidelines on ME/CFS.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with diverse patient groups via remote platforms.
• A proactive approach to multidisciplinary teamwork and patient advocacy.
• Commitment to the ethos and values of Action for ME.
We Offer
• The opportunity to work within a leading charity directly influencing the lives of individuals affected by ME/CFS from a remote setting.
• A supportive environment with emphasis on professional development and access to the latest research and treatment protocols.
• Services remunerated at £106 per hour for consultation time and £88 per hour for administrative duties.
We are keen to hear how you can contribute to our mission and help us drive change for those affected by ME/CFS.
