As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
- Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
- Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.
The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

This exciting senior pharmacist leadership role will entail leading and supporting the medicines optimisation work for inpatients with long length of stay within LSCFT Mental Health inpatient wards and contracted Out of Area Placements (OAPS), supporting the Patient First Pathway in developing and embedding evidence based pathways of care whilst delivering education, training and mentorship to the multidisciplinary team, including the Consultant Psychiatrists Forum.
You will also have a portfolio role with a focus on increasing the research activity within the pharmacy team
The post will have key elements as follows:
Medicines Optimisation for Psychosis - support the medicines optimisation reviews undertaken focusing predominantly on psychosis for long stay patients (60 days plus) within LSCFT and OAPS wards
Patient First Programme - support the Patient First programme that will embed evidence-based pathways of care across our teams, initially focusing on pathways for psychosis and emotional dysregulation.
Supporting dedicated pharmacy input to key transformation programmes within the Trust
Delivering training to consultants and coaching pharmacists to ensure prompt optimisation of medicines and evidence based care that delivers positive outcomes for patients
Developing the team to become more research aware and research active

Hybrid Working: There will be an opportunity to work from home. This will be up to two days per week maximum and will require flexibility according to commitments. There will be a requirement to travel to different sites in the Lancashire and South Cumbria footprint depending on the location of continuous improvement workshops and transformation programmes.

- Clinical experience in general pharmacy settings e.g. Acute Hospitals, Community Pharmacy
- Significant management and leadership experience at a senior level
- Experience leading and managing teams through change
