Occupational Therapist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join Connects specialist inpatient team at Ward 6 Newsam as a Band 6 Occupational Therapist. 

We are keen to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest and empathy in working with individuals with eating disorders and associated complex needs. Previous experience of working with this client group in an adult or CAMHS Service would be welcomed.

We are keen to hear from people who are also passionate about service development and improving occupational therapy pathways to further improve quality care of patients. 

You will be able to access various CPD opportunities specific to your development as an Occupational Therapist. This will be supported through the trusts supervision and appraisal systems as well as via the AHP Clinical Lead of the Connect service. 

Specific training will be provided were necessary.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will be responsible for managing a caseload of patients offering specific OT assessments and interventions supporting on the ward as well as supporting integration back into patients’ local community. Focus will be placed on assessing patients’ occupational needs through use of MOHO assessments. You will also have opportunities to utilise sensory assessment and approaches to support patients on the ward. 

As part of your role, you will be involved in supporting and leading on discharge planning from the ward. This will be focused on transition of care to the occupational therapy team and the AHP associates within the Connect community service. 

You will be expected to offer clinical supervision to junior members of the team and support the allied health professional assistant to manage their time and role between yourself and the dietitian.
