Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a Quality Control Specialist to join a growing Quality team within the Cambridge Cellular Therapy Laboratory (CCTL). You will play a key role in the delivery of Quality Control activities, supporting the Quality Management System and ensuring compliance with MHRA, HTA and JACIE standards. This role offers exposure to a wide range of QC and QA activities within a regulated cellular therapy environment, with increased responsibility for technical oversight, investigation of quality events, and continual improvement initiatives.
CCTL is a regional laboratory delivering cellular therapies, including analysis, processing, cryopreservation and storage of cells for therapeutic use. The laboratory is expanding into a new purpose-built facility within the Jeffrey Cheah Biomedical Centre, which will provide four state-of-the-art cleanrooms and capability to manage Class 1 and Class 2 GMOs. CCTL is also increasingly involved in Immune Effector Cell and AT(I)MP programmes, including supporting the delivery of CAR-T therapies across a range of indications.
Main duties of the job
To operate as a Quality Control Specialist in CCTL leading and supporting on tasks and projects to improve the quality of service delivery and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- BSc (or equivalent qualification) in a relevant subject area.
- Quality Management training e.g. short course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in quality assurance in a relevant environment.
- Experience in record-keeping.
- Commitment to ensuring the high quality of manufactured/handled products and patient safety.
- Experience of teaching/training others.
- Experience in performing audits.
Desirable criteria
- Working within a GMP environment.
- Working in a clean room.
- Experience in the manufacture or processing of cell therapies or medicines.
- Experience of working with clinical trials
- Experience of working under HTA and JACIE requirements
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of day to day quality issues of a laboratory or clean room facility.
- Knowledge of cGMP requirements.
- Knowledge of internal and external quality assurance
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of HTA, JACIE and MHRA/EU regulations in relation to GMP.
- Knowledge of EU GxP.
- Knowledge of stem cell transplantation and/or cell therapies.
Skills
Essential criteria
- Good Organisational skills, methodical approach and keen eye for detail is essential.
- Familiarity with QC/QA skills needed to implement a quality system.
- Understanding of safe working practices.
- Effective spoken and written English.
- Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
