Radiotherapy Administration Assistant

We are pleased to invite applications for the role of Radiotherapy Administration Assistant. In this key patient facing role, you will welcome patients to the department, support them through the check in process, and ensure all required information is accurately collected and recorded.
You will need excellent communication and organisational skills, as the role involves liaising with patients, carers, hospital transport teams and a range of professionals both within and outside the Trust.
We are looking for someone who is willing to learn, adaptable to change and confident working as part of a team. Flexibility with cross cover and working hours is essential.
You will play an important part in maintaining our high standards of patient care, communication, privacy and safety, in line with Trust policies and procedures.

Royal Surrey Cancer Centre, to be a full member of the Administration team and to support the radiotherapy operations by undertaking administration tasks to the highest professional standards, working with Medical, Radiographic, Physics and other Administrative colleagues.

This is a key administrative role in the Radiotherapy Department, responsible for providing support across a range of administrative functions within the service. The post holder will be responsible for assisting patients and visitors to the centre by working on the reception desk and help support therapy radiographers with their admin needs.
This will include completion of duties such as pulling notes for clinics, of filing treatment information in notes and ensuring notes are returned to medical records at the end of treatment in the correct manner. The post holder will be a good communicator and will use verbal and written communication skills with patients such as by preparing appointment letters.
The post holder will be expected to cross-cover other team members in their absence and to ensure colleagues are able to cover in their absence. The post holder will participate in the Radiotherapy administrative team’s wider service provision, including extended-day cover on a rotational basis.
The post holder will be required to work flexibly; by supporting the needs of the service and be aware that the radiotherapy service is open from 7am until 7pm, with the booking team being available from 8 am – 5 pm. They will be aware that occasional work outside of these times and during weekends or public holidays will
be required.
The Royal Surrey Cancer Centre Radiotherapy Department is based at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and operates a satellite service from the East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.
