Job overview
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join our growing Cardiology team at Ipswich Hospital. This fixed term, 1 WTE (37.5 hours) FT post offers an exciting opportunity for an advanced practitioner specialising in PCI and cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices.
You will independently perform and report a wide range of cardiac investigations, including device follow-up, ILR implantation and follow-up, pacemaker implantation support, and diagnostic procedures associated with the PCI service. You will also support broader diagnostic activity, including ECGs, ambulatory monitoring, exercise tolerance testing, and angiography, in line with service needs.
You should have substantial clinical experience as a Cardiac Physiologist and demonstrate specialist knowledge in cardiac devices and PCI. Experience in staff training, supervision, and working within busy interventional environments is essential. Professional registration (RCCP/AHCS), ILS certification, and evidence of ongoing CPD are required.

Main duties of the job
- To independently and competently perform a range of clinical procedures safely and appropriately in accordance with local and national policy, procedure and guidance.
- To interpret clinical data, produce factual reports and deliver results to other medical professionals.
- To contribute to the department training and education programme and implement changes to practice/service provision in liaison with the Principal/Deputy Principal/Chief Cardiac Physiologists.
- To work within Trust and external professional standards of proficiency and be able to practice safely and effectively within legal and ethical boundaries.

Experience
Essential criteria
- • Proven experience as a Cardiac Physiologist (trainee or qualified).
- • Ability to perform a range of diagnostic tests within cardiac physiology.
- • Experience of working within cardiac rhythm management and invasive cardiac physiology (PCI, angiography, device implant).
Desirable criteria
- • Experience of training junior members of staff and trainees.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- • BSc Healthcare Science or equivalent.
Desirable criteria
- • RCCP or AHCS registration.
- • Current ILS certification.
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- • Very good working knowledge of data entry systems/computers, clinical governance, confidentiality.
