Research Nurse

Band 5

Trosolwg o'r swydd

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Band 5 nurse to join the Research Team at UHS, with an initial focus on Respiratory studies. While the post is currently based within the Respiratory Research Team, there may also be future opportunities across other specialities within the Trust-wide Research Team and the Cancer Research Team. These include Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Neurology, Hepatology, Gastroenterology (GI), and other clinical areas, offering a diverse and flexible research environment.

Within Respiratory research, you will contribute to the delivery of a varied portfolio of studies across conditions such as asthma, COPD, interstitial lung disease, and acute respiratory infections. This role supports the advancement of innovative, patient-centred care to improve patient outcomes.

Our research plays a key role in advancing clinical practice and shaping future treatment standards both locally and nationally. We are committed to ensuring equitable access to research by embedding studies within routine clinical pathways, enabling eligible patients to participate and benefit from novel therapies while enhancing their overall care experience.

About the Team

The Research Team is a dynamic, supportive, and multidisciplinary group within the wider UHS Research & Development workforce. We work collaboratively with respiratory clinicians, allied health professionals, and external partners to deliver high-quality research across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings.
The broader Trust research teams are involved in both commercial and non-commercial studies, working closely with the NIHR Clinical Research Facility and other specialist research delivery teams. This provides a rich and supportive environment for professional development, learning, and gaining cross-speciality experience in clinical research.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

University Hospital Southampton is one of England's largest acute teaching Trusts, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities to support your career aspirations.

Located on the south coast with an international airport and direct rail links to London, Southampton offers an ideal setting to live and work, with the New Forest, South Downs and Jurassic Coast.

We believe that using technology wisely shows strong time management and commitment to innovation. However, personalising your recruitment application to highlight your unique skills and experiences is crucial. Relying too heavily on generic, AI-generated content instead of drawing from your own strengths and accomplishments may lead to your application being rejected if multiple candidates present identical or similar information.

At UHS, we’re committed to providing a flexible working environment where possible. Whether you are balancing family, study, or your wellbeing with your career, we want to support you so you can help our patients.

At UHS, we proudly champion individuality, recognising that outstanding care is only possible with a diverse, inclusive team. We’re committed to creating an anti-racist, anti-discriminatory environment where everyone feels valued, safe, and empowered to make a meaningful impact in our communities. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences to join us in building a healthcare community where everyone can belong, thrive, and contribute.
