Job overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Consultant Urological Surgeon with an interest in General Urology, Renal
Cancer and Urodynamics to complement our existing team. This is a varied and fulfilling post spanning general urology, renal cancer and urodynamics, with the support of a world-class multidisciplinary environment.
This exciting opportunity has arisen to join the award-winning Stokes Centre for Urology at Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust — one of the UK's leading integrated acute, community and cancer trusts, rated Outstanding by the CQC.
This role is for 8 PA/week. Candidates wishing to negotiate a different number of PAs, or apply as part of a job share, are warmly encouraged to apply.
Main duties of the job
This 8 PA post is based at the Stokes Centre for Urology and offers a well-structured, clinically diverse job plan combining:
- General urology outpatient clinics and operating lists (endoscopic & day-case procedures)
- Lead responsibility for the renal cancer service — MDT participation, outpatient assessment, and operative/non-operative management
- Urodynamic assessment and interpretation, with collaborative urogynaecology pathways
- Modern prostate and bladder cancer diagnostics, including LA transperineal biopsies and outpatient laser ablation
- BPH management across the full spectrum: medical, minimally invasive and surgical
- Advice & Guidance / ERS, ward cover and contribution to emergency urology

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Urology (or relevant specialty) via CCT (CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date) or Portfolio Pathway
- MBBS or equivalent
- Educational Supervisor qualification
- Qualification in leadership and/or clinical management
Desirable criteria
- Appraisal qualification
- Teaching/Education Qualification
Research
Essential criteria
- Active interest in Urology research and commitment to clinical innovation, track record in publication
Experience
Essential criteria
- Completion of recognised specialist training in Urology
- Consultant-level experience in general urology, including elective and emergency care
- Experience in management of benign urological conditions
- Experience in endoscopic and day-case urological procedures
- Experience of multi-modal management of BPH
- Previous involvement in renal cancer MDT pathways
- Experience in or demonstrable competence with urodynamic assessment and interpretation
- Demonstrable involvement in a functional urology or urodynamics service, either as part of specialist training or consultant practice.
