Are you a Registered Nurse or Midwife looking for a rewarding community role where you can make a real difference? We have a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Berkshire East Immunisation Team in a full-time post, supporting school-based and community vaccination clinics across Slough, Bracknell Forest and the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, including Ascot.

You will be part of a supportive, forward-thinking team delivering high-quality care, improving access to vaccination and helping to protect local communities.

You will travel across East Berkshire to schools, clinics, community venues and agreed vaccine bases.

During school holidays, you will support vaccination clinics, outreach, project work, community events and targeted work to reduce health inequalities. Annual leave can be requested throughout the year, subject to service needs. You may also be expected to support some West localities during school breaks, including Wokingham and Reading.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Deliver safe, welcoming and effective vaccination clinics for children, young people and eligible adults across schools, community clinics and outreach settings.
  • Use your clinical judgement to assess consent information, confirm eligibility and administer vaccinations safely in line with national protocols, Patient Group Directions and Trust policies.
  • Build positive relationships with children, young people, families, schools, GPs, local authorities and partner organisations, using clear and compassionate communication.
  • Help plan and run smooth vaccination sessions, including vaccine collection, cold chain management, stock control, clinic set-up and accurate documentation.
  • Recognise and escalate clinical concerns, risks or incidents promptly, including responding safely in emergency situations such as anaphylaxis.
  • Champion vaccination uptake through health promotion, community engagement, follow-up clinics and work to reduce health inequalities.
  • Keep high-quality records, support data quality and contribute to audits, learning, meetings and ongoing service improvement.

The “must haves” for this role are:

1.         Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse or Midwife. 

2.         Vaccinator training, or a willingness to undertake this. 

3.         A compassionate communication style and confidence working with children, young people, families, schools and partner organisations. 

4.         Flexibility, good organisational skills and the ability to travel between sites to support safe, high-quality vaccination services.

  • Ability to travel between multiple Trust sites and non-Trust locations, including patient homes, some of which may be challenging to access via public transport.
