Clinical Practice Lead

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced clinician to take a key leadership role in developing and embedding improvements in clinical processes and practice across the organisation. The post holder will use their advanced clinical expertise to provide specialist advice, support and visible leadership, promoting high-quality, safe and person-centred care. The role will lead and contribute to the development, coordination and delivery of training programmes—such as clinical risk and suicide prevention—supporting staff across all professional groups to develop their knowledge and confidence. The post holder will contribute to a culture of learning, continuous improvement and compassionate care.

Working collaboratively with senior leaders, clinical teams, corporate services and external partners, the post holder will identify areas for improvement and respond to emerging themes from incidents, audits and service feedback, ensuring that learning is translated into sustainable changes in practice. They will contribute to the development of policies and quality standards, ensuring alignment with local and national guidance, and play an active role in key organisational workstreams, including reducing restrictive interventions, safer staffing and suicide prevention. Acting as a clinical leader and role model, they will facilitate psychologically safe discussions, support staff in challenging and emotive situations, and influence practice through compassionate and skilled communication. The role includes leading and contributing to complex reviews, using highly developed analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills to produce high-quality written reports and present findings to a range of audiences. The post holder will work both autonomously and within multidisciplinary teams, managing a varied workload and multiple projects, while providing leadership, coaching and supervision to support workforce development, enhance clinical standards and improve the experience of service users and carers.

The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country.
