UCLH is looking to recruit a Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics (ST1-3 equivalent) to commence from September 7th 2026 for 6 months [contract ends 27th February 2027]. You will be on the out of hours rota with other level 1 trainees. There is opportunity for additional specialty work depending on your interest and you will be supported to reach your potential. Terms and conditions are the same as the formal trainees within the department.

Main duties of the job

The post is based in general paediatrics encompassing PED AND inpatient wards, with the opportunity to attend outpatient clinics. Baseline working is 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday and the on call out of hours commitment is a contribution to a 10 person junior grade rota made up of normal days, long days and nights. Successful candidates are encouraged to sign up to the hospital bank if desired to help fill occasional out of hours locum work (long days and/or weekends). Outpatient experience (generally observing) is included in this post that could encompass either general and rapid referral clinics or specialty clinics depending on the candidate’s interests.

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment and hold a current licence to practise
Desirable criteria
  • Part way to achieving MRCPCH DCH

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 6 months experience in paediatrics at foundation level
  • 6 months experience in primary care AND Experience of working in the UK Experience working in the emergency department
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working as a junior doctor in the emergency department or a paediatric specialty

Skills and Abilities

Essential criteria
  • Ability to manage common acute and chronic paediatric disorders.
  • Good practical skills
  • Able to communicate well in verbal and written English
