Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Trust (GOSH) is a national centre of excellence in the provision of specialist children's health care, currently delivering the widest range of specialist care of any children's hospital in the UK. It has the largest paediatric Haematology and Oncology centre in Europe.  

A unique opportunity in the Department of Haematology’s: Specialist Integrated Haematological Malignancy Diagnostic Service (Flow cytometry) has arisen for a suitably qualified Health Care Scientist. This is an excellent post for an enthusiastic and scientifically innovative individual.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You must have the relevant experience in Haematology, and Flow cytometry immunophenotyping as well as be able to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge and experience in a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting. 

You will support the Lead Healthcare Scientist in the provision of a high quality flow cytometry diagnostic service to include: leukaemia diagnosis, Mylo/Lymphoproliferative disorders, red cell membrane defects, platelet disorders, monitoring of Minimal Residual Disease/ CART efficacy and characterisation of bone marrow haematopoietic cells.  You will also have experience/knowledge of Quality Management Systems, standards (ISO15189) and the Clinical Laboratory accreditation process.

Experience/Knowledge

  • Knowledge in multiparameter flow cytometric analysis
  • Experience and knowledge of minimal residual disease detection
  • Experience of effectively managing staff and training junior staff members
  • Experience with validation of new equipment/tests, SOP writing, audits, incident reporting and use of quality management systems
  • Experience and knowledge of Clinical Laboratory Health and Safety requirements
