Job overview
Reporting to the Information Governance Compliance Manager, the successful individual will have experience gained in an Information Governance role, ideally within the NHS. You will work within the Information Governance Team managing requests for information and will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of the main provisions of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and Data Protection Act.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for responding to requests for information from solicitors and police in accordance with relevant legislation.
You will need to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team and will need to possess good interpersonal skills as you will be required to communicate with all levels of staff and the general public. You will have a good standard of general education and have good attention to detail.
As the work is governed by strict deadlines, you will be able to organise your own workload to ensure these are met. Experience of using Microsoft packages is essential, in particular Word and Excel.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
To act as the first point of contact for subject access requests from solicitors, police, courts and other third parties.
Manage and respond to enquiries for information, including from solicitors and police for information requests, ensuring confidentiality is maintained and statutory timescales are met, in line with the Data Protection legislation including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR).
Provide support to the IG Compliance Manager, Senior IG Officer and IG Co-ordinator with regard to subject access requests submitted by individuals.
Respond to information requests relating to court orders, taking into account the urgent nature of these enquiries.
Work closely with the Head of IG and Data Protection Officer and IG Compliance Manager to support the IG agenda.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support requests for information.

Knowlegde and experience
Essential criteria
- Holds a certificate of higher education/ NVQ level 4 qualification or equivalent
- Able to make judgements on how to deal with enquiries from service users and third parties
- Experience of communicating with staff at all levels
- Educated to at least A' level
Desirable criteria
- 1 yrs experience in Information Governance role
- NHS experience
