Are you a dynamic, experienced Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) leader with a passion for delivering excellence in patient safety, quality improvement and workforce development?
We are seeking an exceptional Band 8b Infection Prevention & Control Lead Nurse to join our Infection Prevention & Control Team. This is a pivotal clinical leadership role that will provide expert advice, strategic direction and operational oversight to ensure the highest standards of infection prevention and control are embedded across the organisation.
As a visible and influential leader, you will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to drive continuous improvement, support compliance with national standards, and promote a culture of safety for patients, staff and visitors.
Due to the seniority and scope of this role, an in-person informal visit is highly recommended. This provides an excellent opportunity to meet the team, gain further insight into the service and discuss the opportunities and challenges of leading IPC within the organisation. Main duties of the job
In conjunction with the Director of Infection Prevention and Control (DIPC), Deputy Director of Infection Prevent and Control (DDIPC), Head of IPC Nursing, and wider Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team the post holder will be responsible for the coordination and development of a high-quality IPC service across their allocated site and division.
- Providing leadership, support and guidance to all Trust staff and ensuring a patient focused service.
- The post includes providing clinical and managerial leadership to the IPC nursing team based on the site, as well as wider members of the team.
- The post holder will practice at an advanced level of autonomy and clinical decision making.
- They will work as a highly specialised member of the IPC team, to assist in containing and reducing the incidence of infection across the Trust, through risk assessment, surveillance, audit, intervention and education.
- The role is a collaborative one, working with individuals and groups across professional and organisational boundaries.

Education/ Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse on NMC register.
- Significant IPC experience at a senior level.
- Specialist qualification in IPC, minimum BSc level.
- Qualification/training in teaching and/or professional development
- Qualification in leadership development and/or evidence of ongoing continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
- Professional publications
- Personal acknowledgement at national level (publication/ representation)
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience IPC within an acute Trust
- Clinical experience within acute healthcare, and ability to relate that experience to support staff in practice.
- Experience of professional leadership.
- Experience of leading/managing people
- Experience of research and development in practice
Desirable criteria
- Complaints management
- Knowledge of formal research skills.
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Proven leadership and management skills.
