Main duties of the job

To provide day to day operational management support to the Diabetics Team with the aim of ensuring that from a non-clinical perspective the specialities are running effectively and efficiently.

The post holder will be the key contact for all new and existing diabetics’ patients, their relatives and multi-disciplinary team members. The post holder will maintain all administrative tasks associated with new and existing patients on the programme and act as a patient advocate and problem solver during the patient’s journey.

Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria
  • Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline (i.e. science, health, health management, social science)
  • Knowledge of health information management
  • Understanding of NHS IT infrastructure, system requirements and quality standards
  • Understanding of NHS business and administrative processes

Experience

Essential criteria
  • 3 years secretarial / administration experience
  • Experience of working within a hospital
  • Experience in establishing/maintaining robust admin systems

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Able to transcribe data in a timely and consistently accurate manner with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to compile, interrogate and analyse data to produce meaningful and accessible management reports and make appropriate recommendations
  • Ability to use Excel / Powerpoint / Access, Mail Merge, Word Processing

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge and experience of office management
