Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Cardiology Department at the Royal Surrey NHS Foundation Trust as a Locum EP Cardiology Consultant for a fixed period of 12 months.
We are seeking a highly motivated and committed clinician to join our dynamic cardiology team, working closely with colleagues across Acute Medicine, Oncology, Intensive Care and other medical specialties, including Elderly Care, where demand for cardiology input continues to grow.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will contribute to inpatient and outpatient care, support activity within the cardiac catheter laboratories both at Royal Surrey and Barts Health NHS Trust, and play an active role in the ongoing strategic development of our cardiology services.
Responsibilities will include participation in outpatient clinics, the consultant of the week rota, weekend ward cover rota, and provision of specialist expertise to the urgent and emergency care pathway. The post holder will join an established team of seven Consultants, one Associate Specialist, two SpRs, one Specialty Doctor, three SHOs and two FY1s.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full registration and a license to practice with the GMC
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Cardiology (or relevant specialty) via CCT (CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview date) or Portfolio Pathway
- MBBS or equivalent
- MRCP or Equivalent
- Provider status in ATLS/APLS/ALS or equivalent, or willingness to obtain within 6 months of interview date
Desirable criteria
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for GIM
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant evidence of experience in clinical leadership
- Wide experience of Cardiology Medicine equivalent to that required for gaining UK CCT in Cardiology
- Demonstrates the range, depth and breadth of competencies required as a general cardiologist
- Level III CMR accreditation (SCMR / ESC)
Desirable criteria
- Out of Programme management experience (e.g deanery secondment) or equivalent
