Job overview

Do you have a passion for the development and education of staff in practice?

Are you a keen advocate for gold standards of care?

Why not consider joining the dynamic and highly motivated Practice Development Team at the Royal Surrey County NHS Foundation Trust.  The Practice Development Team support all levels of the nursing Trust wide to deliver high quality, evidence based, compassionate care to our patients. The team comprises of highly experienced educators who provide training and assessment for the National Care Certificate, Pre-Registration programmes, Preceptorship and specific core clinical skills.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate would work strategically across the Trust leading an educational work stream that supports training and education of one of the following groups of staff: student nurses, registered nurses, preceptees and unregistered staff, building confidence and competence. The post holder would be expected to liaise with key external stake holders, including NHS England and both Further and Higher Educational Institutes. In particular, this role would focus on leading Nursing Preceptorship across the Trust and supporting the continuing review and development of multidisciplinary preceptorship.

An integral part of the role is providing education in both the classroom and clinical setting using varying methods of teaching, including innovative strategies such as simulation, empathy building devices and educational games.

Advanced communication, leadership skills and mentoring/Practice Assessor experience are essential for the role when coaching, teaching, assessing and providing feedback/forward. Your clinical background and knowledge will contribute to the creation and review of our education, Trust standards, competencies and policies which act as a framework to protect our staff and patients.
