We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Analyst to join our Planning & Reporting Team, where you will play a key role in developing financial reports and reporting tools, supporting colleagues across the organisation and contributing to effective decision-making and service delivery.
You will need to have excellent analytical experience, good MS Excel, Access and Power BI skills, together with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation and work to tight deadlines.

Main duties of the job
This post provides support to the Trust’s Business Planning and Reporting cycle, working with the Planning & Reporting Manager. The post has responsibility for maintaining financial reporting tools in order to provide accurate information enabling budget managers to effectively and efficiently manage their budgets. It also supports development of these financial tools.
The post additionally provides support to the wider Financial Management section through the Month End process and through completion of ad-hoc projects. Finally, it co-ordinates and completes responses to Freedom of Information requests of a financial nature.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• To support the Planning & Reporting team with administrative, reporting and analytical tasks.
• To maintain and develop centralised financial information & reporting tools to clinical and non-clinical colleagues.
• To assist with training staff in the use of the information systems and tools.
To support the Planning & Reporting Manager, with data and information requirements, reporting criteria, and other ad hoc tasks using Spreadsheets, MS Power BI, HealthRoster and the General Ledger.
Involvement in the financial month-end process by generating standard reports, processing Journals and production of both divisional and Board level information packs and dashboards.
Role also entails working within the Finance Department’s policies and procedures, to agreed timetables and to deal with ad hoc tasks.

Desirable criteria
- Educated to Degree level or equivalent level of experience.
- Looking to study towards AAT/CCAB qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Basic Accounting Knowledge.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of the NHS Finance
- At least one years’ experience in an accounting position
- Member of relevant Professional Body
- Experience of computer ledger systems
