We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, dynamic, and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our friendly and supportive Speech and Language Therapy team at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust on a permanent basis.

The successful applicant will join our established Band 6 rotational programme, gaining experience across a range of specialist clinical areas. The rotation consists of nine-month placements within:

  • Critical Care
  • General Medicine
  • Stroke Unit
  • Integrated Community Stroke Team

Qualifications

  • Recognised Speech & Language Therapy Degree Qualification
  • Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice
  • Registered member of RCSLT
  • Evidence of successful completion of short courses related to client group

Experience

  • Relevant post-graduate experience in specialist area including experience with working with dysphagia and communication difficulties
  • Experience of service planning.
  • Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of goal setting.

  • Experience with AAC
  • Acute working
  • Advanced Dysphagia Training
  • Experience of delivering training

Knowledge

  • Well established knowledge of assessment tools and treatment for specialist group
  • Established knowledge of a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions (relevant to the client group)
  • Specialist skills in dysphagia.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills – including observation, listening and empathy skills
  • Good presentation skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrates effective ability to prioritise a large caseload
  • Knowledge of national policies and procedures (relevant to the client group)
  • Understanding of the principles of clinical governance/audit
  • Knowledge of standards of record keeping
  • Enthusiasm to become involved in new initiatives
  • Demonstrates the ability to work well in a team and to see the benefits of teamwork
