Looking to develop your career in one of the UK's largest NHS data protection team?

We're looking for a motivated and proactive Data Protection Advisor to join our friendly, high-performing team supporting Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and West & North West London Integrated Care Board, including over 350 GP practices.

You'll specialise in supporting digital transformation projects, advising on implementation of new clinical systems, medical devices, applications and procurements, helping ensure privacy is embedded from the outset. You'll prepare and review data protection documentation (such as DPIAs and DPAs) and other key governance documentation while working alongside clinical, digital, procurement and operational teams.

As part of a collaborative team, you'll have opportunities to develop across research and innovation, data subject rights, incident management, policy development, auditing, privacy compliance and wider governance, building expertise across the full data protection lifecycle.

Main duties of the job

  • The post holder will support the Data Protection Office (DPO) team in ensuring the Trust’s compliance with data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Common Law Duty of Confidentiality, and all other related legislation.
  • The role will provide specialist administrative and analytical support across a range of workstreams, including privacy, incidents, data subject rights, assurances for digital, operational, and secondary use implementation, and risk management.
  • The post holder will contribute to the maintenance of high standards of data protection and the promotion of a culture of data protection and confidentiality across the organisations

Education/ Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • English Law Degree
  • Demonstrable evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
Desirable criteria
  • Masters in any area of English Law
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E)
  • Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM)
  • Any other IAPP accredited certifications

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Experience in the NHS
  • Experience in Data Protection
  • Good understanding of Data Protection Legislation in the UK / EU
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of data protection law applied to a healthcare setting
  • Experience in handling incidents and managing data subjects’ rights requests
  • Experience in delivering a Data Security & Protection Toolkit
  • Experience in delivering / maintaining Records of Processing
  • Experience in managing data protection risks and issues.
