Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance is recruiting a Clinical Lead for Robotic Assisted Surgery

Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance is coordinating a system-wide programme of work on behalf of Greater Manchester to support the development of a GM Robotic-Assisted Surgery Strategy. This programme extends beyond cancer services and will consider the future development of robotic-assisted surgery across the wider healthcare system.

Submissions will be assessed by the Senior Responsible Officer and representatives of the Greater Manchester Cancer Senior Team with the appointment process involving various stakeholders of the GM Healthcare system including people affected by cancer.

Applications will be based on merit and will include an assessment of future potential in addition to previous experience.

•    Provide strategic clinical leadership for the GM Robotic-Assisted Surgery Programme, acting as the senior clinical advisor and champion for this work across the system. 
•    Provide clinical oversight across the programme's three workstreams, ensuring that the assessment of current provision, workforce requirements and strategic recommendations are clinically informed, evidence-based and aligned with system priorities. 
•    Chair the GM Robotic-Assisted Surgery Task and Finish Group, building consensus across provider organisations and leading the clinical development of a shared GM Robotic-Assisted Surgery Strategy. 
•    Work collaboratively with Cancer Alliance programme teams and system partners to support the successful delivery of the programme, recognising that programme management, analytics and operational delivery will be provided by the Alliance.

Greater Manchester Cancer Alliance (GM Cancer) is a venture that brings together patients, charities, NHS and academic institutions with the aim of securing world-class cancer outcomes and experience for our population. Greater Manchester Cancer is the cancer programme of the Greater Manchester Integrated Care Board.

This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of cancer workforce and education in Greater Manchester, and to essentially improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.

The outputs of this work will support future service planning, workforce development and equitable access to robotic-assisted surgery across GM, whilst also contributing to improvements in cancer pathways and performance.

We are seeking an experienced clinical leader to provide strategic clinical leadership for this programme of work. Working collaboratively with provider organisations and system partners, the post holder will provide clinical oversight across three interconnected workstreams:

1.    Understanding current robotic-assisted surgery provision across GM; 

2.    Identifying the workforce, education and training requirements needed to support future service delivery;

3.    Leading the development of a GM Robotic-Assisted Surgery Strategy through a clinically led Task and Finish Group. 

•    Provide strategic clinical leadership for the GM Robotic-Assisted Surgery Programme, acting as the senior clinical advisor and champion for this work across the system.

The post holder is accountable to the Greater Manchester Cancer Medical Director, with a tenure of 1 year, remunerated as a 1 PA session (funded by Greater Manchester Cancer Services).
