Integrated Clinical Hub Paramedic - Band 6

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service is now recruiting for an Integrated Clinical Hub Paramedic - Band 6

Help shape the future of urgent and emergency care in Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service is seeking experienced and motivated paramedics to join our expanding Integrated Clinical Hub (ICH).

The ICH is a growing, innovative and multidisciplinary clinical service that supports patients and frontline ambulance clinicians across Northern Ireland. The team includes ICH Paramedics, Clinical Support Managers, Advanced Paramedics in Urgent Care, Mental Health Practitioners and other experienced clinical colleagues.

This is an opportunity to develop your clinical assessment and decision-making skills while helping patients receive the right care, first time.

THE ROLE

As an ICH Paramedic, you will undertake remote clinical assessment of patients who have contacted the ambulance service.

Using your clinical judgement, experience and available decision support systems, you will:

Undertake detailed telephone assessment of patients with a wide range of urgent and emergency care presentations

Develop safe and appropriate care plans based on the individual patient’s needs

Refer and signpost patients to appropriate community, primary care and urgent care pathways

Provide clinical advice and decision support to frontline ambulance clinicians

Support safe non-conveyance and alternative care decisions

The ICH operates within a supportive clinical governance structure, with access to senior clinicians and experienced colleagues throughout the service.

A flexible and varied clinical role

ICH Paramedics can work from approved regional clinical hub locations across Northern Ireland, providing opportunities to work closer to home where service requirements and operational arrangements allow.

Operational ambulance shifts are built into the roster, allowing clinicians to maintain face to face clinical currency.

The role also includes protected continuing professional development and training time, supporting clinical development and progression within NIAS.

Why join the ICH?

This is more than a telephone triage role. It is an opportunity to become part of a developing clinical service that is helping to transform how ambulance care is delivered across Northern Ireland.

You will benefit from:

A structured induction and clinical development programme

       Rostered CPD and training time

Regular peer support and access to senior clinical advice

Experience of complex clinical assessment and autonomous decision-making

Operational shifts incorporated within the rota

Opportunities to contribute to education, audit and quality improvement

Exposure to advanced practice, urgent care, mental health and complex case management

Join our growing team and help ensure patients across Northern Ireland receive safe, appropriate and timely care.
