Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 (or experienced band 5) Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Richmond Community Neuro Rehabilitation service (CNRT) which includes the Stroke Early Supported Discharge (ESD) team. The post is a part-time secondment: 2 days (15 hours) a week for an initial 18 months, with the possibility to extend.

You will join a team of experienced Occupational Therapists providing a comprehensive multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programme to neurologically impaired adults in the community.

Appointments are mainly home visits with some out-patient clinics, therefore a car owner/driver is recommended.

Main duties of the job

·         To perform skilled OT assessment of patients including complex physical and psychological conditions.

·         To provide evidence-based treatment programmes, guided by patient orientated goal setting, whilst liaising with the multidisciplinary team.

·         To deliver and progress these individualised treatment programmes and provide advice to family and carers.

·         To provide a high standard OT service, working autonomously with supervision and support, and as part of the multidisciplinary team.

The main aim of Occupational Therapy is to optimise a person’s functional participation in their chosen activities of daily living by providing client-focused assessment and intervention. We also aim to contribute to safe discharges and the flow of inpatient services within a supportive learning environment.
