Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team at HMP Peterborough. This is a unique opportunity to work in a secure environment, delivering high-quality medicines management services to a diverse resident population.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for the safe and effective administration of medication, supporting both residents and nursing staff with expert advice and guidance. You will play a central role in medicines reconciliation, prescription checking, and stock management, ensuring compliance with departmental policies and national guidelines.

This role requires a proactive and compassionate individual who can work independently and collaboratively, with a strong focus on patient safety, communication, and service improvement.

Please note this post is subject to security vetting. To be considered for this post you will need to have continuously resided in the UK without any breaks for a minimum of 3 years prior to this application and be able to evidence your years of residency. Main duties of the job

  • Provide a daily medicines management service, including administering medication and offering advice on drug-related queries.
  • Support nursing staff with medication queries and prescription checks.
  • Perform medicines reconciliation for new admissions to the centre.
  • Manage medication stock, including checking, ordering, and removing unwanted items in line with policy.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date resident medication records using electronic systems.
  • Offer advice to residents on medication compliance, minor ailments, and prescribed treatments.
  • Plan and conduct medicines management checks for in-possession medication.
