Join our team as a Junior Clinical Fellow in Nephrology at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, where you'll be immersed in an esteemed department with a strong national reputation. This role offers an invaluable opportunity for career advancement, potentially paving the way for future training posts with Health Education England.

 

As part of our team, you'll engage in a 1:7 middle-grade rota, ensuring comprehensive coverage of our Nephrology Unit.

 

Ideal for ambitious physicians with a passion for Nephrology, this role offers hands-on experience in renal medicine within a supportive environment. You'll collaborate closely with consultant nephrologists, contributing to the management of in-patient and out-patient renal services at Lister Hospital.

 

Your responsibilities will encompass diverse areas, including patient care on the nephrology ward, overseeing operations in the Haemodialysis and CAPD Units, and participating in renal clinics. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to engage in audit and research initiatives within the unit, fostering professional growth.

 

Embrace the opportunity to contribute to our on-call rota, including potential involvement in general medicine, as you embark on a fulfilling journey in Nephrology.

The post holder will be encouraged to participate in audits, presentations, and teachings. Although, this post is not recognised for training, the appointee will be encouraged in their training and development within the role.

Qualifications

  • Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council

  • Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent
  • (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level

Experience

  • Experience and knowledge at core level in Nephrology or equivalent.
  • Completed Foundation Year training or equivalent

  • NHS experience

Fitness to Practice

  • Up to date and fit to practice safely and aware of own training needs
  • Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation

Skills

  • Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors
  • Able to show situational awareness and application of good decision making
  • Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
  • Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues

  • Experience in organising educational activities

Knowledge
