Job overview

Are you looking for a rewarding role where no two days are the same? Join our innovative, nurse-led Burns Outreach and Outpatient Team, delivering specialist burns care across the London and South East Burns Network, serving a population of almost 10 million people.

This unique role offers the opportunity to care for patients throughout every stage of their recovery journey, working across outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, patients' homes and our pioneering Burns Outreach Bus.

Working within a highly skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team, you will develop specialist burns nursing expertise while enjoying a varied role that combines acute, outpatient and community practice. The position offers a high degree of autonomy, excellent professional development opportunities and the chance to make a lasting difference to patients and families.

We are looking for compassionate, motivated nurses who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient-centred care and embracing innovative ways of working. The service predominantly operates Monday to Friday, providing an excellent work-life balance, with only occasional later clinics and participation in a Saturday rota.

If you are ready to develop specialist skills, work within a forward-thinking service and help transform burns care across the region, we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

Deliver specialist burns care across a variety of settings, including outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, patients’ homes and the Burns Outreach Bus.

Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised care programmes for patients recovering from burn injuries, ensuring high-quality patient-centred care.

Provide expert wound care, dressing management, scar management and rehabilitation support to optimise recovery and long-term outcomes.

Support patients and their families throughout the recovery journey by providing education, advice, emotional support and health promotion.

Work collaboratively within a specialist multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, effective and evidence-based burns care.

Travel across the London and South East Burns Network to provide specialist outreach services and improve access to care closer to patients’ homes.

Contribute to service development, quality improvement, audit and innovation initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and the delivery of burns services.

Develop and maintain advanced specialist burns nursing knowledge and skills, participating in ongoing professional development within a dynamic and evolving clinical environment.

Working for our organisation

Our ambition is to deliver excellent local and specialist services, to improve the health and well being of our patients, and provide a vibrant place for staff to develop, innovate and build careers.

We aim to make the most of our skills and experiences so we can become the best we can be. As one organisation we will recruit the finest and retain more specialist staff due to more employment opportunities across our Trust.
