Job overview
We are seeking to recruit resident doctors to the post of Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics and Neonatology with an interest in Cardiology, for a fixed time period of 12 months.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities
- · One day a week of this post is dedicated to cardiology, this would allow the post holder to develop skills and knowledge in cardiology in order to prepare for application for cardiology SPIN training and as a step to acquiring accreditation in echocardiography. You would join the Paediatricians with Expertise in Cardiology in clinic and in providing cardiology advice for inpatients with the expectation that over the course of the year you would become more independent in echocardiography skills.
- · The remainder of the post (including a full out of hours commitment) is dedicated to the in and out of hours acute cover of the general and neonatal resident doctor rota.
- · You would be expected to provide day to day care for children in partnership with the consultants and the multidisciplinary team.
- · Prepare and contribute to Paediatric MDT meetings and journal clubs.
- · Manage paediatric and neonatal emergencies as part of the paediatric/neonatal resuscitation team.
- Contribute to the postgraduate and undergraduate teaching programme

West London Children’s Healthcare was formed on 1st April 2022 bringing paediatric services at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust (ICHT) and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (CWFT) under a single leadership structure accountable to both Trust Boards for all elements of operational, quality, safety and financial performance.
WLCH runs services from Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Hammersmith Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital, and West Middlesex Hospital.
In addition, two child development services operate from the Cheyne Centre and Woodfield Road.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are excited to offer the opportunity for a cardiology fellowship within the department of paediatrics at West Middlesex Hospital. We are an expanding team of consultants with a range of interests to support your clinical and non-clinical development. As a cardiology fellow you would be providing clinical work as a senior clinical fellow on the full shift tier 2 rota. One day a week would be dedicated to cardiology. We would support you to develop your cardiology skills including echocardiography. You would work closely with the two Paediatricians with Expertise in Cardiology who both hold the EACVI Echo CHD Certification and can therefore act as local assessors for your own DOPS assessments for the certification.

Education and Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MB BS or equivalent
- MRCPCH
- Experience of working at registrar level in the NHS
- At least 6 months experience of working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level 3)
- GMC Registered
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- APLS/EPALS and NLS provider
- Teaching experience
- QI and Research experience
- Ability to demonstrate clinical leadership
Desirable criteria
- Skills in Echocardiography
