This vacancy is for a new substantive 10PA post following the current postholder moving to a new post internally.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The successful applicant will provide senior psychiatric input into the Community Rehabilitation Team.  This team formed in January 2026 bringing together the previously regional Community Rehabilitation Enhanced Support Team (CREST) and the Recovery Centre as part of the wider work to create a Complex Psychosis Pathway within the Trust.

The Complex Psychosis Pathway provides a whole system approach to Mental Health Rehabilitation and Assertive Community Treatment in Leeds, which includes Newsam Ward 5 (Level 2 Rehab & relocating to Parkside Lodge), Asket Croft and Asket House inpatient settings, (Level 1 Rehab), the Community Rehabilitation Team and Assertive Outreach Team. The pathway also includes Rehabilitation practitioners embedded within the Community Hubs providing early rehabilitative and reablement interventions and enabling transitions for service users between Community Services and more intensive Assertive Outreach and Community Rehabilitation Support.  These are clinical delivery services.

The pathway includes an out of area /Trust case management role and mental health placement reviewer for people with complex psychosis who are placed in Level 2 rehabilitation Independent Hospitals outside of the Trust or in funded residential placements.

Leeds Partnerships NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a fulltime (10 PAs) Consultant Psychiatrist  in the CRT service based at the Newsam/Askets. Less then full time arrangements can be negotiated. 

The post holder will work with the MDT, colleagues and other agencies to deliver safe and effective care to patients.   The service commitments are divided between the 3 consultants in group job planning. 

The post holder, supported by the MDT, will provide:

Regular clinical reviews

Flexibility to accommodate urgent clinical reviews

Clinical input within the CPA framework

To hold Approved Clinician status as defined within the Mental Health Act (1983) and undertake the duties of Responsible Clinician for those subject to the MHA 1983 under their care

Complex prescribing and review

Effective liaison with local mental health providers, local authority professionals and statutory organisations in support safe care and risk management

An expectation to work intensively and assertively with the client group

To contribute to and work as part of the multidisciplinary community teams being available and accessible and to provide support and supervision when appropriate.

To work collaboratively with other services within the Trust and other Trusts within the ICS.

To provide professional leadership.

To provide one hour a week protected clinical supervision to the Core Trainee.

To work jointly with the Clinical Leadership Structure, Operations Manager and Head of Operations. and those in other agencies to ensure the service is delivered successfully.

  • Completion of formal training programme in General Adult Psychiatry, on GMC specialist register for psychiatry
  • To be approved under s12 of the MHA 1983 and hold Approved Clinician status as defined within the Mental Health Act by commencement of post
