As an integrated Trust, Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust (LSCFT) delivers a comprehensive range of services, including:

  • Primary and secondary mental health care for children and adults, including specialist inpatient child and adolescent mental health provision, perinatal mental health, and forensic services with low and medium secure care.
  • Specialist mental health inpatient care for individuals with learning disabilities, alongside specialist community support for children and adults with learning disabilities and autism, including intensive support.
  • Extensive community physical health and well-being services for children and adults, covering prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and long-term condition management.

The Trust was first established in 2002 and employs approximately 7,500 staff who provide care from more than 400 sites. The organisation offers opportunities for medics, mental health, general nurses, children’s nurses, allied health professionals, psychology, administration and clerical staff, apprentices and volunteers, as well as those specialising in learning disabilities and community physical health services.

Pennine Lancashire is seeking a Band 6 5 Staff Nurse, for Darwen Ward, a male treatment ward at our Pendleview unit, Royal Blackburn Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity and the successful candidate will be part of an evolving service that has the needs of our service users at its heart. As a Band 5 Registered Nurse (Mental Health or Learning Disabilities) the post holder will be a Registered Nurse (RN) working in an inpatient mental health setting as part of the multidisciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties including the assessment, formulation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of nursing care that is evidence-based, person centered and recovery focused. With the support of the Ward Manager and their deputies the post holder will lead and contribute to the smooth running of the unit in a consistent way that reflects the Trusts’ values

As a Registered Nurse within the team, you will be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Registered Nurse, and you will be encouraged and supported to take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.

The post holder will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge and expertise as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and policies and procedures.


(If the post holder is new to the NMC register they will undertake a period of preceptorship overseen by a named Preceptor within your team and engage in the trusts Preceptorship programme).

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team structure
  • Experience of assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing care needs
  • Developed clinical nursing skills with a clear ability to understand new concepts and ideas in clinical practice
