Psychological Therapist - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Are you an enthusiastic and compassionate CBT Therapist looking to make a meaningful impact within a thriving adult community mental health service? If so, we would love to hear from you.
We are seeking a highly motivated CBT Therapist to join our team of passionate and skilled psychological therapists on a 12-month, fixed-term contract (covering maternity leave) (until August 2027). This is an excellent opportunity for clinicians looking to gain experience working in an SMI service or seeking opportunities for secondment. We are particularly interested in those who have completed advanced training in CBT for Psychosis (CBTp).
Working collaboratively with Wokingham and Bracknell Community Mental Health Services (CMHS), our team aims to deliver the highest quality care for adults with significant mental health needs.
The post is based at Resource House, Wokingham and/or Church Hill House, Bracknell, with an expectation that you will work from base at least 2 of your 3 days per week. We support flexible and agile working, with opportunities to work from home where service needs allow. Occasional travel across Berkshire will be required for meetings, training and collaborative working.

Conduct specialised clinical assessments and develop clear and detailed psychological formulation of the service user’s presenting difficulties using evidence based cognitive behavioural models of understanding.

In collaboration with service users and multi-disciplinary colleagues, develop personalised treatment plans based on service user needs, assessment findings, formulation of the presenting problems, and evidence of effectiveness to support recovery goals and improve quality of life.

Deliver evidence based cognitive behavioural therapy (to individuals and groups) using a range of specialist knowledge and techniques, and adapting interventions based on evolving needs and formulations.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary team clinicians and multi-agency representatives to ensure the delivery of integrated and psychologically informed care.

Support and engage in research activities as indicated, adding to the evidence base for practice, and participate in development activities and quality improvement initiatives, to enhance the overall effectiveness of clinical services.

Actively engage in the improvement and development of mental health services, implementing new treatment approaches, providing insights and expertise to enhance the overall quality of care.

- Experience of completing CBT assessments, formulations and interventions and autonomously managing a caseload in a specialist healthcare setting relevant to the service area

- Experience of delivering CBT with services users (and their carers/families) presenting with the full range of clinical severity across the range of settings, maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
- Experience of dealing with highly distressing or emotional circumstances, such as serious mental illness, child and sexual abuse, exploitation, and complex family dynamics
- Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment
