(**) Healthcare Assistant - Radiology

Band 2/3

Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is the only acute hospital provider in the Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS), which is a system of health and care partners working together for our local population.

Within Mid and South Essex there are 149 GP practices, operating from over 200 sites, forming 27 Primary Care Networks and one Ambulance Trust. There are also three main community and mental health service providers who work together through a community collaborative.

We collaborate with other valuable partners, including three Healthwatch organisations, nine voluntary and community sector organisations and three top tier local authorities, with seven district, borough and city councils, as well as our local universities.

Job overview

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic Radiology Assistant to join our friendly Radiology team based at Southend Hospital.

If successful you will assist Radiographers, Radiologists and Sonographers to provide a high level of care to patients undergoing imaging examinations (such as CT, MRI, ultrasound, interventional radiography, fluoroscopy, x-ray and specialised x-ray procedures).

You will also get the opportunity to move to Band 3 if all relevant training has been undertaken and passed.

Please note no VISA sponsorship available for this role and previous applicants need not apply.

Main duties of the job

If successful, you role will include assisting radiographers, radiologists and sonographers to provide high level of care to patients undergoing specialised x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, interventional radiography and general x-ray procedures.

Please note, this will include dealing with patients’ bodily fluids and assisting with specialist procedures in ultrasound.

Working for our organisation

The Mid and South Essex Integrated Care System (ICS) brings together key health, care, community, and voluntary sector organisations from across our area. Our aim is to work together in partnership to join up health and care services, improving our populations health and wellbeing and reducing health inequalities. One such example of this collaborative work is the launch of our HCA Academy, an ICS initiative between Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust (MSEFT) to support the incoming Health Care assistant (HCA) workforce. The academy models a ‘one workforce’ cross system approach to the onboarding, induction, education, and experience of Healthcare Assistants.

Successful candidates to this role will be able to access the additional support provided by the HCA Academy following their induction with MSEFT. This includes development opportunities, pastoral support, staff rewards and access to HCA exclusive resources such as HCA App.
