Senior Health Care Support Worker, Sexual Health

YUNO Sexual Health is looking to appoint a motivated and kind Senior Health Care Support Worker to join our team. Great communication and interpersonal skills are essential and applicants should be able to be demonstrate the ability to be forward thinking and passionate about delivering a high standard of care. Previous sexual health experience is desirable, but not essential. You will be expected to be a responsive and conscientious professional that is able to work as part of the Multidisciplinary team.
YUNO Sexual Health covers Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucester. The hours required are mainly based within North Somerset, but flexibility is required and expected to work across the other YUNO Sexual Health sites.
The hours required are;
Monday 8.30-5.30 (8.5hrs)
Thursday 9.30-7.30 (9.5hrs)
Friday 8.30-5.30 (8.5hrs)
Saturday 9.00-1.00 (1 in 4 in the Bristol service)

Chaperone patients having intimate procedures.
Venepuncture.
Processing patients samples and microscopy (preparing slides and reading them).
To carry out a range of clinical duties with minimal / no supervision, including blood pressure monitoring, body temperature, pulse rate and respiration rate and testing of urine samples, including pregnancy testing.
Providing assistance to the nursing team and wider MDT as required.

Qualifications and Training

- One of the following; Level 3 City and Guilds; NVQ3; BTEC National Diploma; Experience equivalent to the above qualifications
- Level 2 Functional skills in English and Maths, or equivalent
- Completion of Level 3 Diploma in Healthcare Support (that maps to the Apprenticeship Standard for Senior Health Care Support Worker) or equivalent experience
Knowledge and Experience

- Experience of providing care in a healthcare or social setting
- Ability to work as a dynamic member of a team
- Experience of time management and prioritising work
- Understands and committed to a caring approach to patients & relatives
- Understanding of sexual health or able to demonstrate a genuine interest in the area.
Skills and Abilities

- Effective and appropriate communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrate an awareness of healthcare work including policies and procedures
- Ability to work with minimum supervision to a high standard
- IT skills, basic word, Email, keyboard skills. Experience using electronic patient record systems
- Ability and willingness to undertake appropriate training within given time frames
- Flexible and adaptable to change, able to work a range of shifts and moving across clinic locations across the BNSSG area dependant on clinical need
- Able to demonstrate calm, caring patient manner / attitude
- Enthusiasm and commitment to working within the healthcare setting and providing excellent clinical care
- Able to meet the physical and developmental demands of the role *
- Caring, empathetic and non-judgemental attitude
- Experience chaperoning intimate procedures or willingness to train
- Experience in venepuncture or willingness to train
- Experience in microscopy or willingness to train
