Job overview

The successful applicant will work independently, using their specialist expertise to support the safe, evidence-based and timely implementation of a Trust-wide switch from dalteparin to enoxaparin. The post holder will be self-motivated, well organised and able to work effectively to agreed deadlines.The successful candidate must have previous experience in developing and implementing clinical guidelines and leading or supporting change at Trust-wide scale. They will be responsible for reviewing relevant evidence and guidance, developing or updating appropriate documentation, and supporting the implementation of the change.
The post holder will attend relevant meetings, including those required for governance and ratification, and will liaise closely with key stakeholders across the Trust to ensure effective communication, engagement and consistent implementation. Excellent communication, organisational and project-management skills are essential, together with a strong commitment to patient safety and evidence-based practice.

Main duties of the job

The main responsibility of the post holder will be to provide project support for the trust wide transition from dalteparin to enoxaparin as the first line low molecular weight heparin (LMWH) of choice. The post holder will work independently applying their expertise to develop and review policies and clinical guidelines that support the safe, effective and clinically appropriate implementation of enoxaparin for the prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism (VTE) across a range of patient cohorts.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to provide expert clinical and project support for the trust-wide transition from dalteparin to enoxaparin at Royal Surrey County hospital. The post holder will support the planning, development and implementation of the project, working closely with the lead hematologist, pharmacy, clinical teams, and key stakeholders to ensure the transition is safe, evidence based and clinically appropriate. The role will involve developing and reviewing guidelines, protocols and supporting documentation for the use of enoxaparin in the prevention and treatment of VTE across relevant patient groups, presenting these at appropriate committee meetings and incorporating feedback and amendments as required. The post holder will also act as an ongoing point of contact for clinical queries and referrals, provide expert advice and support to clinical and pharmacy teams and develop training and e-learning resources to support successful implementation and continued safe use of enoxaparin across the trust.

  • - Qualifications Educated to masters level/ degree level/NVQ/ Certificate OR equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level/manager level/supervisor/ in specialist area.
