Job overview

Are you a newly qualified Physiotherapist looking to gain experience in a rotational position? Or a current Physiotherapist who is looking to widen your knowledge and skills set?

East of England Community Health and Care are excited to offer this excellent opportunity as a Band 5 Rotational Physiotherapist. This rotational position offers experience in a wide variety of settings, including clinics, outpatients and rehab wards.  The Trust is passionate about our staff's development and offers a wide range of internal training opportunities to support your development, some very specific to the location where you are based, others to develop your leadership skills going forward. You will also have an opportunity for CPD time, which are led by you as a group.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our integrated teams with experienced therapists and therapy assistants, who work closely alongside our nursing colleagues.  There will be a requirement to travel to clinics and patients within the Community, therefore a valid driving licence and access to transport is essential.

To apply you will need to have a BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy and be registered with the HCPC or an undergraduate student nearing course completion (within the next 2 months). It is also open to those returning to practice.

Flexible working is possible. Weekend and evening working may be required as per the demands of the service.

Interviews will be held in person.

Main duties of the job

The Post Graduate Physiotherapist Rotational Scheme offers a broad base of clinical experience.  Staff on the Rotation will be expected to work at any of the services on the scheme.

The duration of the rotations are 6 months and currently covers the following areas: -

  • Community Rehabilitation – Various locations
  • Willow Unit - New state-of-the-art centre
  • Musculoskeletal outpatients
  • Caroline House - Level 1 neurological rehabilitation unit providing specialist care and rehabilitation for patients with complex neurological injuries
  • Stroke ESD 
  • Community Neurology
  • Urgent Community Response Teams 
  • General In-Patient Rehabilitation    

The rotations are based across various locations in Norfolk.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  1. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work.
  2. To maintain a high standard of clinical care for the patients under your management.
  3. To undertake the assessment of patients using investigative and analytical skills.
  4. To formulate an individual management and/or treatment programme, using clinical reasoning skills and a range of treatment skills.
  5. To undertake a variety of rotations; this will provide a broad base for both personal and professional development.
  6. To accept clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, and, with support, to organise this efficiently and effectively with regard to clinical priorities and use of time.
  7. To accept responsibility for ensuring the effective selection and use of all treatment resources available both in the department and on the wards.
  8. To communicate effectively with other members of the multi-professional team, about patient issues in order to facilitate a team approach to patient care.
  9. To communicate effectively with patients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and to ensure understanding of condition.
  10. To assess capacity, gain valid informed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
  11. To delegate to, and supervise the work of health care assistants and assistant practitioners.
  12. To assist senior staff in the provision of advice, teaching and instruction to relatives, carers and other professionals, to promote understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure a co-ordinated approach to patient care.
  13. To be responsible for equipment used, and to adhere to department equipment policy, including competence to use equipment.
