Cyber Security Analyst Advanced – Band 7
Digital Services | City, Southmead and Weston
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Advanced Cyber Security Specialist to join our cyber security team and play a key role in protecting the digital services that support patient care across the Trust.
Working closely with the senior cyber security manager and wider technology services leadership team. you will help shape the Trust’s IT and cyber security strategy, ensuring that security considerations are embedded across digital services while driving continuous improvement and strengthening the organisation’s overall cyber resilience.
This is an excellent opportunity for a cyber professional looking to further develop their technical and leadership skills while working across a diverse and challenging technology landscape.
You will lead on vulnerability management, threat hunting, incident response, risk assessments, DSPT compliance, cloud security, and security improvement programmes. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will provide specialist advice across Microsoft 365, cloud platforms, national systems, and medical devices, while mentoring junior colleagues and supporting security projects.
The successful candidate will have strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and experience working within a large, complex environment.
Main duties of the job
The role includes conducting risk assessments, vulnerability management, threat analysis, security monitoring and incident response across Microsoft 365, SharePoint, national systems, cloud platforms, medical devices and wider digital services. You will lead security workstreams within digital projects, support secure cloud deployments, undertake threat hunting, manage evidence gathering and root cause analysis, and help shape cyber policies and procedures.
As a senior technical specialist, you will mentor colleagues, provide expert guidance, deputise for senior team members and promote cybersecurity best practice across the organisation and wider health community. You'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders, including law enforcement and counter fraud teams where required, while ensuring KPI compliance and maintaining robust security operations.
The role also includes participation in a 24/7 on-call rota, providing out-of-hours support for cyber security incidents, alerts and critical escalations. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced cyber professional to influence strategy, improve organisational resilience and help protect critical healthcare services.

Essential criteria
- Degree-level qualification relevant to the role or demonstrable equivalent experience.
- Specialist cyber-related qualification.
- Previous experience of working to tight KPIs or targets.
- Experience contributing to strategic plans and policies.
- Experience with project and change management skills and/or techniques.
- Experience working in a large and complex multi-tiered environment.
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience working in digital roles within the NHS or a healthcare setting.
