Are you a passionate and experienced Pharmacy Technician looking to shape the future pharmacy workforce? We are seeking a B6 Lead Pharmacy Technician, Education and Development to lead and support the training, education and professional development of pharmacy staff, specifically PTPT's (Pre-Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technicians). This exciting role combines clinical practice with education, mentoring and leadership responsibilities, offering the opportunity to coordinate training programmes, facilitate professional development, support workforce planning and work collaboratively with regional education partners.
 
 As an accredited Pharmacy Technician with significant hospital pharmacy experience, you will be a positive role model, an effective communicator and a champion for learning and continuous improvement. Main duties of the job

  • Training and Development
  • To work with department leads to establish appropriate rotas in order to facilitate the rotation of students through the department
  • To complete the registration of new students to their training providers
  • To support and assess NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 students training through Buttercups (department wide)
  • To carry out end of period reviews and assessments for NVQ2 and NVQ3 students training through Buttercups
  • To support the BMET (or other training provider) students and liaise with the provider where necessary
  • Complete quarterly LDA Census updates for the Trust
  • Attend regional Training and Education meetings (West Midlands)
  • Attend and support careers evenings and events and promote Pharmacy as a career
  • To co-ordinate and facilitate ACT training for the department
  • To co-ordinate and facilitate CD training and the West Midlands Dispensing Accuracy Assessment for the department and as a mentor for those carrying out the assessments
  • Take referrals from department leads with regards to individuals who require tailored one-to-one support; support the individuals and their ongoing progression
  • To be responsible for apprentice recruitment and support for the department
  • To manage and facilitate requests for work experience
  • To work with the MSO to facilitate learning from mistakes
  • To deliver Medicines Optimisation training when necessary

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • GPhC Registration as Pharmacy Technician
  • Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician
  • Management or education post registration qualification (or equivalent experience in a hospital setting)

Skills

Essential criteria
  • IT Literate in routine Microsoft applications ( Word, PowerPoint, Excel etc)
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic management principles including team management and motivation
  • Knowledge and skills to mentor and develop staff

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant experience in Acute Hospital Pharmacy
  • Experience of carrying out performance reviews and development of staff including training.
  • Development and consistent delivery of Key Performance Indicators for a service
  • Involvement/Leadership in project delivery
