An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 6-month secondment into the Director of Nursing role for the Royal and Liverpool Women’s Hospital reporting to the site Chief Executive, the Director of Nursing will work as an integral member of the Hospital Management Board to deliver the hospital's strategic aims and objectives.

The Director of Nursing plays a vital role in supporting delivery of safe care and quality initiatives to improve the experience of patients at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group. Reporting to and working closely with Chief Nursing Officer, the post-holder will be expected to support the delivery of safe, high-quality care for patients and their families.

 

 

Main duties of the job

Provide highly visible and inspiring nursing leadership across the post holder's designated site and across the wider Trust, championing a professional and open culture which empowers staff to consistently deliver quality care, acting as a role model for the behaviours and high professional standards expected and setting direction for the achievement of all national and regulatory standards.

Ensure a culture of absolute accountability exists, supported by systems to hold senior nurse leaders to account for the safety and quality of the care provided in their areas of responsibility. Provide professional leadership and mentorship to Divisional Nurses across the organisation.

Always adhere to the standards in the Nursing and Midwifery Code of Conduct and the NHS Code of Conduct for Managers and act in a manner that promotes the values of the Trust.

Provide professional nursing leadership and advice to inform Trust decisions.

Qualifications and Registrations

Essential criteria
  • First level Registered Nurse
  • Relevant first degree
  • Educated to Masters Level or above
  • Evidence of continuous professional development

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant senior level experience in a complex NHS Trust, ideally as Deputy Chief Nurse/Chief Nurse or with senior operational management experience in an acute healthcare environment with a track record of delivery against key targets
  • Expert level knowledge of critical factors in delivering improvements in clinical performance, nationally and globally
  • Demonstrable track record of defining and delivering clinical strategies in a senior nursing role.
  • Recognised leaders with influence and personal credibility that extends across the public sector, with a track record of success in delivery across organisational boundaries
  • Experience of leading and delivering change and improving organisational and clinical effectiveness
  • Detailed knowledge of current professional issues.
