We're looking for an exceptional leader to join us as Deputy Director of Estates and Facilities Management - Commercial and Compliance.
This is not a traditional estates role.
Working alongside the Director of Estates and Facilities, you will help lead the strategic direction of a diverse and complex portfolio spanning commercial services, major contracts, compliance, governance, property, PFI arrangements and facilities management. Your influence will be felt across the organisation, shaping the environments, services and infrastructure that support healthcare for our communities.
The Role
As a member of the senior leadership team, you will:
- Lead the commercial and contractual management of high-value estates and facilities services.
- Provide strategic leadership for compliance, assurance, governance and risk management.
- Drive value, efficiency and innovation across a broad portfolio of services.
- Shape the future use and development of the Trust's estate, property and commercial opportunities.
- Build strong partnerships with suppliers, system partners and external organisations.
- Deputise for the Director of Estates and Facilities

Working closely with the Director of Estates and Facilities, the Deputy Director will contribute to ensuring the corporate objectives of the Trust are achieved with specific focus on the provision of Commercial Service provision and Compliance across the Directorate.
The post holder will lead the commercial development of all Trust Estates and Facilities Services with oversight of all elements of business development, contracting and financial management of these arrangements the post holder will ensure that these systems continue to deliver income generation opportunities.
The post holder will for all areas of responsibility ensure robust key performance measures which are aimed at maximising the net financial efficiency of the services whilst placing a constant focus of ensuring that the quality and safety are maintained to the standards set by the Trust Board.
This role will play a leading role in the delivery of an exceptional Estate and Facilities Services. The postholder will take responsibility for:
• Ensuring that University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) get best value from our outsourced service contracts.
• Contribute to the development of strategy for efficient and effective delivery of UHDB Estates and Facilities Management.
• Ensures performance across services supporting the delivery of UHDB Estates and Facilities Management.
• Establish and implement a comprehensive key performance indicator performance tracking for contractor performance.
• Lead by example modelling the Trust values and behaviours, ensuring that equality, diversity and inclusion objectives of the Trust are championed, supported and implemented.
In addition, the post holder will be professionally responsible and accountable for the standard delivery, continual monitoring, risk management and review of Estates and Facilities services to ensure a professional, high quality, cost effective and efficient service to meet the demands of the organisation, its staff and patients.
