Job overview
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Specialist Nurse (12 months - Secondment/Fixed Term) to work in the Darlington Community Mental Health Teams (Darlington Community HUB & Darlington Community Treatment and Intervention Team)

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team; ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of care across all aspects of the service. The nature of this work requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations alongside a willingness to be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering clinical care.
The successful applicant will be required to contribute to and lead ongoing service development and offer clinical supervision to staff members. The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk-taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high-pressured situations is an essential part of this role.
Acting as a resource in providing specialist advice, training, guidance and consultation to the team and partner agencies is also an integral aspect of the role. The applicant will be an essential member of the multi-disciplinary team and will be able to facilitate the co-coordination of care on a multi-disciplinary basis to the patients under our care.
The successful applicant will also be responsible for the planning and delivery of supervision, appraisal and support to members of the community teams.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The Clinical Specialist Nurse will take a lead role in delivery of Structured Clinical Management to the patients and carers we support. This will include supervision of clinicians and playing an active role in clinical decision making.
The post holder will contribute to the planning, oversight and provision of expert care and support to all patients who are under the care of the two teams, providing evidenced based interventions based on need. The post holder will also formulate plans of care within the multi-disciplinary team and negotiate implementations of such plans and the sharing of complex, sensitive and confidential information.
The post holder will also act as key worker or co-worker for a group of patients.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only)
- Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving.
- Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving
- And have Professional clinical knowledge and experience acquired through degree (or equivalent post registration study), supplemented by specialist training, experience, short courses, Module (20 credit) at level 7 see below
- For example Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/Masters Degree, Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Postgraduate diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber), Psychosocial Interventions
- Equivalent significant clinical experience such as working (minimum of 2 years) as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area, together with evidence of relevant CPD to Level 7 or equivalent

- Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field.
- Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours
- Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice
- Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers
- Working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Quality improvement activities
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally
- Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act
- Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice.
- Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
- Clinical Governance and its application in practice.
- Working knowledge of clinical medicines management
- Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area)
